The University of Alberta’s DUSS (Disrupted Ukrainian Scholars and Students) Initiative is launching a new phase of its virtual support program and welcoming applications from Ukrainian scholars, writers, filmmakers, and visual artists currently located in Central Europe or engaging with Central European themes. The program, funded by the Wirth Institute for Austrian and Central European Studies (ualberta.ca), is meant to support up to eight Ukrainian scholars, writers, filmmakers, and/or visual artists who either have been displaced to one of the Central European countries due to the ongoing war or are working on research / creative projects with a Central European focus. For the purpose of this project, Central Europe will be understood to include Austria, Croatia, Czechia, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia, and Slovenia. The DUSS Initiative, jointly with the Wirth Institute and other UAlberta’s teams and institutions, will provide successful applicants with $2,000 CDN honoraria to support their work and assist them in establishing scholarly or artistic connections with the UAlberta community.
